After we receive the pre-finished components they are assembled with only the highest quality machinery.
After assembly has taken place, we send through our finish department. This is another 3 step process.
It begins with us priming the panel for the third time. Then it comes out into our hand sanding department to re-sand and check for any finial touch ups or bad spots. They repair any defects and Send in for a top coat of Lacquer finish. This is a premium quality paint that is used primary for furniture and cabinets.
We inspect the finish again in our quality control while we put hardware on them and if we need, will send back through our paint department.
Hardware
Just as there are several styles of shutters, there are also several styles of hardware used for hanging your shutters. Below are just some of the types of hinges we use to connect the shutter to your hanging choice (either frame or hanging strip). Not only do your choices range from what type of hinge to use, we can also match existing hardware used in other areas of your home (i.e. brushed nickel, antique brass, regular brass, white, or custom painted). We can also add knobs and brackets to the fronts of your shutters to add to the design and usability.
Components
Several individual pieces are used to create a shutter, which we customize to fit every window. Along the top and bottom of each shutter are rails. On either side of the top and bottom rails are stiles. The shutter louvers are inserted directly into the stiles on either side. Should you choose to, a center divider rail can also be built into the panel. This allows for the shutter to be opened on the top and closed on the bottom, or vice versa (a center divider rail is shown below). In the vertical center of the panel is the control, or push, rod. Each louver is attached to the push rod and by moving the push rod, you are controlling every louver.
Installations
Every window is unique in its size, shape, and depth. That is why we offer so many hanging options for your shutters. Do you have decorative trim in your windows? If so, you may wish to have your shutters installed into the inside of your windows. We use hanging strips to mount your shutters to the inside of your window (the hanging strip cannot be seen). If you do not have trim around your windows, you may opt for frames to be built around your shutters. When installed, the frames act as trim and add a decorative look to your existing decor. The Georgian Company can advise you as to the type of hanging options you might like, and as far as installation, our insured expert installation staff will install your plantation shutters to your satisfaction, guaranteed. But, our service does not stop there! We will service your shutters for as long as you own your home!
